Project description
All over the world there are bus stops, They serves us as buildings for a fleeting moment, a man passes them and wait some time before the bus arrives, then, continues on his way, We stand or sit in stations for a few minutes, some of us have a permanent station on the way to work or school, and some of us just use the stations on our way from place to place. My work, wants to change the bus station to regular place, a room, a temporary residential unit, that invite the viewer linger there. While, in fact change the original function, of the place from bus station to, house station. My work can be used outside and inside, my main interest is, the tension between the temporary set, to the extemporary, the ascetic and the public, the alone in front of the loneliness, and between interior and exterior. Work will be performed on a real bus station, transparent walls but the facade is not open. The Front of the house station will be close wall with a door and window, as Front of House or Apartment .the other 3 walls will stay the same, Regular window walls that bus stations usually has, by the front wall of the house station ill put garden with lawn and path available and plants (plants, a recurring theme in several of my works, marking a house). The viewer can enter through the door to the station, or to view from the three other ,of the four walls are transparent, like in the original stations, the front wall will be built from Building materials resistant to rain, and will have an entrance door, window, windows, curtains, ou can open or close. Inside the station house, will be a single bed,A small table with a reading lamp, TV with cable running all the time …..Bookshelf, mini refrigerator, small closet clothes hangers, chair, small rug, etc. The viewer outside the station can look through the transparent walls, at who enter in, that’s another interesting perspective and viewpoint of the work.
(This project Inspired from a lot of things such as, the capsule hotels in Japan, and art works of Absalon, see the attached images.) My Work invites the viewer to stay in more than a moment! Art viewers often look at a work of art and move on to the next work in the exhibition, just like they are waiting for the bus and move on to the next station and set continue on their way …..This work is an invitation to stop, stay, give place, and to change the use existing in this specific seller space, in a ways we are not accustomed to see it and in ways we're not used to use it.
Sincerely, Efrat Kedem
