What it is: (Home)Squat Residency is a framework for artists to find their own residency opportunities and another model of patronage for art enthusiasts. (Anyone can follow this model.)

How it works: This project follows any number of artist-in-residence models designed to provide artists a location to stay and a context in which to create work. The art patron (anyone) provides the artist with a space to work and stay for a given period of time. This could be in one’s home, office, or selected space where the artist will have the opportunity to set up shop and respond to the unique environment. The artist and patron can work out the terms of the arrangement and may choose to invite guests to view the work in the form of an open studio, art show, performance, artist talk, discussion, dinner, etc.

This is an ongoing project which so far has lasted from January 2009 to present which has yet to be realized as a show or in any formal context. During this time I have completed over 20 homesquats.
