§79 Proceeding from this in 1983 Pitz negotiated with representatives of the foreign ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany. The attitudine diplomatica project was intended to find out to what point the government was interested in admitting Pitz to the diplomatic service. Apart from the tradition of entrusting artists with diplomatic missons. Pitz was interested in finding out which function in society he as an artist, could assume: moreover, in exhibitions abroad he had repeatedly, though involuntarily, been attached the role of representative of his country. So what was more obvious than to perform this role formally? The result was negative: the German civil service law requires graduation from a university diploma or State Examination. A Meisterschuler (student with a Master degree from an art academy does not sufficiently qualify). Another question was, what would Pitz have done, ie he had been accredited? Would the oath which he would have had to take on the constitution, or the office work of the civil service, have changed or even prevented his artistic work? The project remained unrealizable, hence the question was left unanswered.
