Heads in Starlight, a closing event, for Feel Felt (see background on page 2) night performance for up to 100. We bring pre-cut unassembled tall paper-cone hats and on site we thread tall grass stalks and fine light-optic cables through the tips of the hat before wrapping a lightly felted layer of fleece around the hat. Volunteers are recruited from the attending cultural community to wear dark clothes and perform, as directed, in the hats. The choreography, now lost, with a nomadic theme, was available in power point graphics. A videographer would be hired to film the performance from a high vantage point and the video plus one hat becomes "the product” for the travelling exhibit that follows.

Background:

Call for entries to Mongolia's first international exhibition 'FEEL FELT' is the first international art exhibition after the democratisation of Mongolia, in 1990. The vent is being organised by Mongolian Committee and the STOFFWECHSEL Institute. The event aims to draw Mongolia in to the international cultural circuit, and is offering 50 artists from 24 countries an opportunity to participate. The event will take place in the city of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The artworks will be shown in selected locations across the city, including public places. All the artworks will be realised on site in Mongolia with Mongolian artists and intellectuals. The artists will arrive to Mongolia three weeks before the Vernisage to finish their installations and artworks. The organisers have committed to give assistance and know how to the invited artists. In addition, Mongolian artists, designers, architectures and other professions will assist them. The invited artists will have access to workshops in Ulaanbaatar. Proposed exhibition dates: July 3 - 31, 2005 For detailed information on conditions of entry, visit www.metacultures.org http://www.metacultures.org/ 'FeelFelt' International Art Exhibition in Ulaanbaatar Project Director Professor H. el Attar PO Box 440557, 12005 Berlin, Germany
