    Civic Centre in Salburua (2009)

The expansion of the city towards the peripheral neighborhoods has occupied the green limits between the inhabited zone and the world. These areas still retain their limit character, and they don’t appear on the city as a consolidated area. Walking through streets under construction, cranes, new inhabited houses and brand new cafes, it seems that something is still missing to make this neighborhood-park completely inhabited. The area needs singular spaces, important buildings and references to make this new piece of city a real neighborhood with its own identity. The character of the new singular buildings must be necessarily in agreement to the character needed by Salburua, a different character from the ones of Mariturri, Lakua or Zabalgana.

We propose a new scene for this neighborhood, finding references in the vegetable quality of the area and its proximity to the wetlands. We propose a curtain made from organic geometries for the boundary space between the consolidated city and the countryside. Our curtain, sum of several curtains as if it were a paper theatre, contains the uses of the new Civic Center between its scenes, turning the citizens into authentic actors. The East Park will now become a large orchestra that watches the scenes between the new Civic Centre curtains. Finally, this park will be limited and consolidated. Finally, it will have a scene to contemplate.
