People are incalculable, not perfect organisms. Systems and processes require the functioning of all the appropriate elements of a formula - remove, alter, adjust or replace any and the algorithm will malfunction. There is a vernacular of aesthetics embedded in everyday systems. I had heard Jean Luc Nancy talk of pleasure being what remains when we have finished understanding or not begun to understand and as a feeling that seeks to continue or renew itself and one that is never still-a movement and a tension. By exploring these everyday systems: puncturing, interrupting, adjusting and subverting them- sometimes minor, sometimes large but always with devastating consequences I was seeking ways to offer this sense of renewal and tension.
