In 2009 I made a film whose completion has been continually postponed. I made the film quickly with materials to hand, in Super 8 format. The making of the work was an immediate reaction and response to a small event.

‘In March 2009 I bought a lime in Harrods, Knightsbridge, London for 95p. I asked why the lime was 95p, what was special about it? I was told it was from Mexico. On returning home to Handsworth, Birmingham I bought 7 limes for £1 at Universal Food Store on Soho Road. These limes were also from Mexico. I decided to make a film about this. I ate all 8 limes in a performance for the camera and recorded this in real time. The filming took place in my kitchen, in my house in Handsworth. At the time of filming in April, the streets surrounding my house in were strewn with blossom from the many lime trees in the area. They also smelled very pleasant, but you cannot see that. When buying the 95p lime in Harrods I was told I was buying a top quality lime. I said I would report back. I found that there is no difference in taste between a 95p lime from Harrods of Knightsbridge and the 7 limes for a £1 from Universal Food Store on Soho Road, Handsworth. The differences that do exist - are differences of economics, class and ethnicity. That is my report.’
