Thanks an experience of life at the Freedom Theatre of Jenin with the kids of the refugee camp, I decide to start this project about Palestinian people and their martyrs.

The Second Life martyrs show!is an alternative utopia to the violence that people over there, have to live everyday, celebraiting the imaginary as a dimension of resistence and struggle. When I visited Palestine I was shocked by the amount of the martyrs posters which can be found everywhere all through the country. I felt completly lost facing this reality too far... How to face this exteme violence without loosing a human glaze?? What about the future for palestinian people...expecially for the young generations???

Second Life, in its virtuality, can properly stands for the thousands of dead people, the martyrs, caused by the military conflicts and in a positive way, it suggests a second chance of life. At last, Second Life breaks the geographical barriers.

The project is articulated in two parts: -a virtual exhibition on Second Life -a real site-specific installation

The virtual exhibition on Second Life On Second Life, I rent a land and I build there the 3d model of the venue which hosts the project, reproducing in details the outside and the inside spaces. In this virtual venue, I set a show about 11 posters of some fictional martyrs, which have for background some real martyrs posters.

special Avatar named “Mohammed”, is created to allow the audience of the exhibition to visit the virtual show. Besides by this avatar, the show could be visited 24h/24h by all the other avatars of the Second Life members

The real site-specific installation In the real space, at the enter door, I set the video “PALESTINE NOW” ,shown by a portable dvd screen with one external speaker. The video attempts is to unify what is breaking up all the time. It has been created projecting the pictures of my travel and then filming them with a mirror effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIKBP3TK2tA

Crossing the door, inside the space, there is set a compiuter logged onto The Second Life, with the avatar Mohammed, ready to be used by the audience to visit the virtual show.

On the walls of the space, there are outlined 11 empty spaces. which corripond for size and position to the 11 posters which are shown up on Second Life Each empty space has a captation with title, the same of their referential Second Life posters, and with the picture of the real palestinian martyr posters, background of the fictional one .
