Trein Time Zeit Zug a project by Manuel Saiz Train Time Zeit Zug is an art installation involving a circular high speed train in Central Europe, with stretches in Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. The train runs along a 2,400 km track at a constant speed of 200 km/h. It passes at 00:00 by the Northern point of the track, in the suburbs of the German city of Recklinghausen; at 03:00 by the Eastern point, near Munich; at 06:00 by the Southern, in the Turin area; and at 09:00 by the Western point, near Paris and three hours later is again at Recklinghausen. The movement of the train constitutes a clock of continental proportions. The visitors to the installation live on time, and they can experience a trip that spins around the continent twice daily. There are economic, social, and political reasons that make the installation impossible or extremely difficult to realize. It has also some useful and beneficial features, not only in the art realm. A documentary and a book are analysing the difficulties for the planning and construction of this ambitious art installation to take place, the forces that oppose it and the arguments the artist uses for push it forward. It brings up many issues in the core of our contemporary thinking and that define the perspective from which we see daily life. The development of Train Time will reflect and bear questions in various fields: The identity of Europe, Transformation of Nature and ecology, Engineering and technology. Social and globalization issues Art and culture Economy and politics. Train Time Train Temps Treno Tempo Tren Tiempo Trein Tijd Zeit Zug www.ttzz.eu www.manuelsaiz.com
