The project is the installation in the Antarctic Pole of an object, a magnet, an object that itself has a symbolic and enigmatic load.
The proposal is to install in the Antarctic territory a magnet horseshoe 1 m high by 60 cm base and 3 cm thick at its visible part.
The magnet will have an anchoring device that will go below the visible part to secure and fasten securely over the territory.
The proposal was designed considering the particular geographical and physical characteristics of the Antarctic territory, among other things such as the fact of passing through the magnetic axis and rotation of the planet. In this sense the magnet as an object generates a poetic open relationship with the environment that is the focus of this work.
A key part of the project is to rigorously document interpretations, reactions, speculations and opinions that produces the object in the population. Likewise make a record of the interaction that can occur with the fauna as well as the territory itself. Another part of the project is the documentation of the production process of the magnet, the difficulties and all the preparation of transport and installation. The records will be made in the form of video, photography, notes, and drawings for further editing work that will shape a series of works.
Technical Specifications: The magnet will be built by cutting the piece from a clod of Iron 3 cm thick and magnetising it through a electro magnetism process which will be held in Buenos Aires and then moved to Antarctic territory. The approximate weight of the piece is 50kg. The piece will be partially painted with synthetic antioxidant enamel as a way to protect iron from the corrosive effects of weather. In his two lower ends will be welded two iron rebar L as floor anchoring device which will be ensured with stones and cement.
