A video installation for a private gallery. A single video projection on the far side of a long room. A prepared wall, with black paint around a white circle, where the "image" will be projected.

The sense of sight is the mean we use the most to know reality and interact with it. There are things though, that are not easily perceived by sight in everyday life but still affect us, changing greatly our ways to perceive reality. The best example is our body and our inner organs, they continuously determine our way to relate to the world via diseases, pain and various feeling and emotions like love or depression. Those things are hidden to sight, but they can become the leading role, despite ourselves, in some of our days or in life itself. The sun rejects direct vision. Since Galileo we tried to obtain from it more information, instead relying on the stereotypical god-like golden disk with bursting rays. Nowadays science and space probes show us spectacular static and moving pictures of the sun. Precise in resolution and exact on timing, detailing for everyone the convective dynamics and the seasonal cycles of sunspots.

The intent of this work is to suggest a mental, different and unknown image of our star.

Considering the sun on a very large timeframe, we can see it as the one that gave start to life on earth but also the one that would eventually destroy, at the end of its star cycle, that same life: expanding into a red giant and the go supernova... The sunspots’ eleven years cycles provoke on earth all sort of electromagnetic interference, they might become dangerous and catastrophic in societies so depended on electrical and electronic devices.

A sun seen as God but also Lucifer, Devilish. Ambiguous and Ambivalent. Ornated with a shiny crown and fire swirls but also black-veined, worm-eaten from surface to the core, slightly corrupted by its own absolute power. Untouchable, unreachable, sanctified has a life bringer, an eternal energy source but also doer of our destiny. New and likely respondent for climatic change, real and final master of living beings completely dependent on it.

The video installation depicts a computer-generated sun loaded with dark sunspots on the surface, the sphere continuously slowly rotates, and the surfaces changes, swirls, boils. At a glance, the sunspots seem casual and without a pattern but a thorough and prolonged look reveals known contours and shapes forming very slowly. Shapes depicting some way the organs of our body: brain, lungs and so on. The apparatuses that determine our well-being, our diseases, our psychological state. The sun as a x-ray, a mirror, a den filled of the urges and internal movements of human beings (or its own?).
