Seating in the Epcore Centre for Performing Arts turns into an oil spill
Client: Epcore Centre for Performing Arts / Calgary Alberta Canada Date: 1990
Central hall of new Epcore Centre designed as public seating area at base of Splash. Sculpture to appear to be a giant pour from ceiling roofline interior into splash at base. Manufactured out of riveted aluminum sheet (like glider wing technology)
Using the crossover escalators as a pivot point, the sculpture changes the static space into a dynamic of liquid and solid forms in symphony.
Unrealized: Jury did not award commission.
