In November 2009, the bronze plaque donated by the Yugoslavian Government on July 10, 1976 for the commemoration of the Wardenclyffe communication tower, Nikola Tesla's last remaining laboratory building, was stolen. To this date, the plaque has not been recovered.

An unrealized project was to create a bronze replica of the plaque and donate it to the town of Shoreham, New York, the site of the Wardenclyffe remains.
