Untitled (‘Hold my Emotions’) - - Cast objects, plaster moulds, and coloured wax, 10x8 cm approx. (2011)

The objects were developed around the Romantic idea that physical forms can gain the significance of projected emotions. Objects, which were found in public space and were collected in response to particular physical and psychological states, became the core of plaster moulds. After casting the original object, wax of different colours, which represented different feelings, was poured into the void of the mould. These ‘vessels of emotion’ became the final sculptural objects and were subsequently sculpted to obtain a smooth surface. The objects were inspired by my participation in the activities of Practising Space Interdisciplinary Research Lab and were produced with the intention to be part of a public, interactive exhibition. Although an unrealised exhibition, visitors would have been able to pick up and hold the objects in order to engage with them in a tactile and embodied manner.
