Participatory action with a catastrophy in the background.

My project is based on an assumption that in future, in result of economic / political / climatic crises, European cities, will surrender to a total degradation and it will gradually get a character of a rural area. City streets will be covered by remnants of social protests, among them – car tyres, burning of which has become a traditional form of expression of a social discontent.

After having exhausted all methods of political persuasion, citizens will make an attempt to take the responsibility for their fortune in own hands as to survive in the epoch of a total downfall of public authorities. They will turn the tyres left on the streets into mini-gardens, in which they will cultivate basic vegetables.

A project, proposed by me, is to have a character of a participatory action and, strictly speaking, a training of citizens on an occasion of a potential catastrophe. This is why I propose to place tyres of big lorries in a public place of a city (optimally: on a square in the city center). The inner space of the tires should be filled with the soil. With a help of accessible means (leaflets, posters, press announcements) the citizens should be encouraged to sow seeds of vegetables in the tyres and then cultivate them as at small allotments.
