“Orgone Tanks” Artistic action by Urssa Severa As an artistic action, a legion of tanks (about 50 tanks) loaded with “orgone” cannons instead of war cannons, makes a journey around the world all in a row at 40 km per hour. They are on a mission and have to pass through all the countries in the world (the amount of total kilometers and time to travel must be calculated). The “orgone” (word coined from the same root as “organism and “orgasm”) is supposed to be an ethereal energetic natural element thought to be an omnipresent universal vital force possible to be collected from the atmosphere, accumulated by “orgone accumulators” or/and projected trough cloudbusters. The orgone energy was promoted by Wilhelm Reich in the 1930s with the intention to spread an energy similar to the one achieved in the moment of orgasm during intercourse, known to be of vital importance and a primordial source of health, as claimed by Wilhelm Reich. Either Reich had just reached a pseudo-science level on his researches or not, the conceptual message is of high relevance for this art piece. The concept lays in a reuse of war tanks, inverting their substantial function. Turning war times (suffering, death and despair) in libidinous vital times (health, pleasure and creativity). It’s important that the mission passes through all the countries since there’s an aesthetic epic moment that should symbolically mark the global collective memory, within a very direct message retrieved from the 60s about global “peace not war” or “libido not bombs” – luckily with therapeutic influences provoked by the orgone projected by the tank cannons, while they pass through several zones of the globes. Strategic routes must be studied.
