Three Little Words started my work with visual language. This series contains my colorful gouache drawings of engagement diamonds accompanied by three words in black cursive text. I painted the most symbolic engagement diamonds from Tiffany's and Cartier, etc. Then, I based the supporting text on sets of words in three which I took from common relationship conversations. My interested lies in the terms of relationship - between word use and also between color coordination. Tapping into the visual cues of color I desire to push the meaning of the text using particular illusions of color. I painted to change stereotypes of color and symbols of diamonds towards the loss of their luster or towards more brilliance and significance. Colors have their own connotations and power, just like words.

The final project was to be an exhibition of all my large drawings and handmade books of small drawings (about 80 total), both formats ranging from steamy and passionate topics (warm colors, reds) to the cold hearted (cool colors, blues). After the exhibition there was to be a book with every drawing and more text on the matter.
