Event Description - M6 EXAM: Exhibition/Residency as A School
Examen M6 propose un retour à l'école d'art. Par son concept de résidence/exposition d'un mois, les artistes sont invités à une table ronde avec l'Estonie sur le thème d'une esthétique de la résistance, une organisation des agences Art Container et byAnalogy.
Le concept? « Une classe » composée d'artistes de différents pays examinera les pressions économiques liées à l'annulation de l'importante biennale européenne Manifesta 6, de 2006. Par le biais de séminaires, ateliers et conférences, une table ronde aura pour thème la pratique artistique en tant que commodité de l'économie. Nous invitons les artistes à passer en revue la Documentation M6 pour une production de la connaissance, avant de mettre de l'avant leur mandat de production et de diffusion. Un événement est ainsi international par sa relation au contenu.
En tant que concept de résistance, une majorité de dossiers ont été approuvés selon sa politique d'encadrement. L'exposition M6, en commençant par l'Estonie, présentera les artistes ayant passé en revue la Documentation M6, tout en répondant adéquatement au questionnaire des douze questions.
En rupture des pratiques de schémas de l'économie, cette épreuve M6 propose une alternative, identifiant un processus de sélection par comités comme étant dépassé, négligeant une politique d'influence, de lobbying. Car tel est notre concept de sélection sous une esthétique de la résistance, il vise l'inclusion de la pratique par une production de la connaissance. Il est ce win win scénario, permettant à tout candidat, souvent de culture divergente à la nôtre, de faire à son retour le point sur son expérience à l'étranger.
En tant que concept d'un événement ne servant non plus uniquement qu'à faire profiter, par sa liste réputée, une économie, un marché, il protège une non-spécialisation car c'est en elle que réside la liberté.

Event Description - M6 EXAM: Exhibition/Residency as A School
M6 Exam is a return to basics, a return to school. This project invites artists to participate in a one month exhibition-residency in Estonia, themed aesthetics of resistance, a round table plays as an artistic agency by both organizations Art Container and byAnalogy.
The concept? “A school class” of different artists from around the world, who will examinate the economic pressures that led to the cancellation of Manifesta 6, an important European biennale, in 2006. By producing seminar, workshop and conference, a round table will face the notion of commodity and artistic practice in nowadays economy. The artist participation is then to produce the M6 Exam as knowledge production, and not only to rely to their usual production and promotion mandates. An event becomes then international to its relationship to the content.
As the project promotes resistance, a majority of all the submissions has been accepted as coaching politics. However, the M6 Exhibition, starting with Estonia, will only feature works by artists who have read the M6 Documentation, by answering adequately to the 12 questions statement.
To break away from artistic practices that too strongly resemble economic constructs, this exam offers an alternative, which reveals the current selection process in contemporary art to be out-dated and slack. The selection process, as envisioned by the aesthetics of resistance, is inclusive of the practice in producing knowledge about contemporary art. It proposes a win-win situation enabling all candidates, even those from cultures different from our own, to return home and explore their experiences abroad. It is a concept that does not encourage profit by a list of reputable names for an economy or a market. All of the artists contacted will have the opportunity to complete a 12-question exam touching on this crisis in contemporary art criticism (including the cancellation of the biennale), to play an active role in an international gathering, to create new relationships, to participate in seminars and workshops motivated by contributions, exchanges and discussions about art, by artists being mandated from the academic scheme.
