This was a project i designed for a sculpture park, as a water element of such.. The owner didn't want a water feature and rejected it. As such it was never implimented though i made an estimate for around 2000.00 to build.

The idea of it quite simply is to make a fountion out of steam. Water will come from a park irigation system, to be periodically flow across a mirrored surface. Given a typical hot climate on a typical day, it will then evaporate making paterns in the sky reasonably quickly. Changing the patern on the mirror, changing the paterns in the sky, and making looking across it quite diffrent.

On a cool day or a clouding one it might turn into a small pond, on a mirrored surface. One a hot day though it sould be quite a sight.

Yet Ulimiteatly its designed not to look like very much. Though the peice was obviously influenced by the minimalist art of the 60's, in and of itself its nothing and is not intended to be looked at, but to make art through influence. It designed to create a mirrage in the most litteral sence of its sourunding. Something and nothing, the permence of concrete in contrast with the impertence of air.

    Design

The basic design of the project is to be a 10X10 mirrored Alluminion surface to be placed in the ground. a slight(1/8" inch) angle.Inside the highest side will be a series of irigation tubes connected to the locale. All of it will be sorounded by a 10x 10x10 Concrete toehold, to prevent people from walking on it, and to create a boundary. Inside the highest side will be a series of pipes that will connect it to a local irigation system on a timer. during the day, Every 10 or so minutes about one ounce of water will be released from 10 pipes each to flow on the mirrored surface.

One the low side there will be a series scupper holes built 1 inch from the surface to prevent to much water from collecting. it will poor out water on the grass or other area as determined by the side.

given typical heat, and the way the allumuium should heat up on an average 80 degree day, the water should infact evaporate before the next stream of water is released. This shall be the main artwork.
