Iranian Modernity during Qajar period
During Qajar period, Iran starts the modernity and attention to Europe as an pattern of development. This series of digital photo arts tries to show the various aspects of Iranian modernity through the combination of famous European paintings and the character of Qajar Iranian Kings as a symbol of a traditional concept. This series include 20 works that shows this concept. In this application, we present two of them
The first work is a combination of Andy Warhol’s “Green Coca-Cola Bottles” replaced with Qajar Iconic cups of tea with “Nassiraddin shah” portraits. He tried to show himself trough this popular object as a media of power during that period. Original size: 200cm*150 cm,300dpi
The second work shows Giorgio De Chirico’s “replica of The Disquieting Muses” replaced with head of qajar kings, means this is a main concepts in Iran that art is belongs to king’s court and they are the patron and the main theme of it , and it’s not important that who is a king, it is a situation can be occupied by every one. The head changes but the body remains. Original size: 81cm*120 cm,300dpi
