Dear M. Buergel,

Please find enclosed our proposal ‘The Intellectual Refuge(e) Camp – 21 tents for the 21st Century’, which your Leitmotifs for Documenta 12 inspired.

Feeling immediately akin to your text, the Leitmotifs resonated with ideas that have been gestating in our minds and studios, and incited us to form a collaborative team to present this conceptual interactive installation.

The Intellectual Refuge(e) Camp is proposed as an addendum to the art installations of Documenta 12; as a place of meeting, interaction and discussion – a collective open ludic experience to complement the individual encounter of art and viewer.

As an artist and admirer of Documenta, I hope you will find this project compelling and in tune with your vision as a possible component for activating aspects of Documenta and engaging with the citizens of Kassel, to act in a local/global ways.

We would greatly look forward to prospect of working with you in such a capacity.

With utmost respect and admiration,

Patrick Meagher,

Dan Wood, and

Amale Andraos
