I was born in Mumbai and received my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Sir J.J School of Art, Mumbai in 2004 and Post Baccalaureate Diploma from Pont Aven School of Art, Brittany, France in 2006. My last solo show titled ‘Impositions’ was held in Switzer

My works deal with the contradiction and dualities of the social systems within which the body dwells. I see my body as a depository of pre-conditioned thoughts and values from which it is constantly struggling to break through. Thus inevitably in my work I use my body as a medium and a tool for expression. These canvases in prayer mat formats become a platform for performance re-investigating the types of bodily desires that are subjected to willed control but seem incomprehensible to reasoned opinion. I am trying to seek and understand how corporeal practices mediate social meanings and induce cultural commitments and in this way I question how religion attempts to design moral codes through the body. Thus in these works I have attempted to rediscover, explore and think through my body. Some of these acts performed upon the canvas have further led to documentations through use of video and photographic installations.
