The images submitted to AUP are pages taken from a book on how to draw cartoons. (The title of the book has been forgotten).

The book was found at Central Library, whilst studying on the MA fine Art course at, Birmingham City University, Margaret Street Birmingham, England 2009. It was the idea that you can be taught how to draw cartoons, in particular, hands that was of interest. The pages sit in an A3 folder, along with other material, waiting to be realised as a work in some way. It is this hanging there, in limbo, which opens up the drawings for interpretation. The more you look at them, the less they are inaccurate (three fingers) diagrams on how to draw cartoon hands and the more open meaning becomes.
