Originaly Proposed b y Naama Tsabar for Emdash Award, Frieze art fair.

This project will begin with a silent video-clip that will be sent to a musician. The video itself will be my visual reaction/interpretation to the musicians music, and will serve as an invitation to write a new song for the silent video, and to perform the song live in the installation. The installation will be comprised of two arenas. The first will be situated outside the fair's tent: when approaching the entrance to the fair, the viewers will encounter walls that form a booth. Stage speakers and lights, hanging from truss fixtures will penetrate the walls and will keep them suspended in air. Similar to an art fair booth - the hanging room will have three walls and can be entered from one side. Weather durable materials will be used in constructing the hanging booth. *see images 1-4. The second arena will be situated inside the fair tent and should be fairly close to the entrance. It will be a glass/plexi room, which will measure the same size as the hanging booth. Inside the room will be musical gear (microphones, guitars, amps, drums, etc.) that are set up and ready to be played on. On the front wall of the glass room the silent video that was sent to the musician will be projected, it will be the exact size of the glass wall. When seeing the projection from the front, it will appear to be two dimensional, but when the viewer passes the projection, the glass room is revealed with all the musical gear in it. *see images 5-8. The relationship between the two parts of the installation is such that when the video is projected inside the fair tent, the speakers from the hanging booth outside play the song that was written for the video. A few times during Frieze art fair, the musician will preform the song inside the glass/plexi room. Performing inside the room will keep most of the sound contained, the little sound that will be heard outside the glass will be muffled. While the performance takes place inside, the outside hanging booth will work at its fullest, amplifying the sound from the performance and activating the stage lights. Both elements are facing the inner space of the booth, inviting to enter - only to experience a show that is taking place some place else. *see image 9.
