    Hat

    hat [turkish] line [english]
a project by Anna Haber, Korinna Lindinger and Julia Rosenberger

the line A line is drawn between Vienna and Istanbul. It is a line in luminous turquoise colour, 6mm wide, and 1827 km long. A line connects, a line separates. This geometric fact is taken as the artistic and exploratory program. National, cultural and social boarders, inclusions and exclusions are constantly created and discarded. There are various social an historical relations between Turkey and Austria, between Central and Southeastern Europe, between Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria. hat gives these thoughts 10.962 m2 space. It creates an image to make relations tangible. hat dispends 5400 l of coloured paint on the roads of five countries. There is no point allowing to comprehend and overlook the work as a hole. hat goes beyond our field of vision. It is an ephemeral landmark.

the pen A car is used as a pen to draw in turquoise colour on the grey concrete. The construction to apply paint evenly is mounted in the boot of the car. As soon as the vehicle is moving, the „pen“ starts to draw. A pump serves to achieve an even application of paint – 6 mm fine irrespective of the cars speed. The coloured paint is soluble in water and disappears after a few days.
