Title: Outback Pietà Artist: Maarten Daudeij (The Netherlands, Australia) Year of origination of the idea: 2011 Concept: Taking the Pietà by Michelangelo out of the Saint Peter and placing it in the Australian Outback Theme: i.e. the duality between possible good intentions and probable bad reception, moreover the work would speak about difficulties in inter-cultural communication and societal trauma. Challenges: There will be difficulties in persuading the Vatican, there will be difficulties with indigenous people. There will be difficulties transporting the sculpture and it will be difficult to place it in the right spot, etc. Opportunities: It would be one of the most horrendous and beautiful things one could do, stupefying on many levels.
