In response to an invitation to propose a public art project anywhere in Italy I designed a house to be built in Milan. The basic drawings were completed and submitted for consideration. At this point an architectural practice in Milan became involved and commenced negotiations with the city government in order to realise the project. The house is conceived as part of a social centre and car-parking scheme in the south of the city. A landmark that is sign-written with various song titles that will inevitably be modified by users of the building. The architecture is in keeping with the surrounding area yet the surface decoration and large scale mark it out. As the project proceeds all the relevant documentation is to be included as part of a single piece of work that forms a complete documentation of the house from planning stage to final construction. The documentation includes all original drawings, photographs, models and technical information about the building. In 1997 negotiations will continue and the construction of a scale modal of the structure will begin.
