    LEAVE UR MYTH, 2007

For a never realized exhibition at the city of Sarajevo, I proposed a floor-based installation that consists of some hundreds of souvenir bottles of ouzo, (4.5 x 4.5 x 15 cm each). The miniature bottles have the shape of Evzonas, a soldier that serves in the Presidential Guard of Athens dressed in a traditional uniform, similar to the outfits worn by historical elite light infantry and mountain units of the Greek Army.

This army of souvenirs composes a misspelled over-view of an advertisement by the Greek National Tourist Office “Live Your Myth-in Greece”. The ouzo-bottles were to be installed on a white slice of marble on the floor.

A souvenir, an object that is treasured for the memories associated with it, is often brought back to those who didn’t make the trip. For a never-realized exhibition at the Sarajevo, I suggested this floor piece in order to deal with issues of the “traveler” and the “native”.
