When the project to built the AVE train (Madrid-Scville-Madrid) was getting started, a design team was put together to design the mobile units of this high-speed train.

Visual Poet, Joan Brossa, was asked to collaborate in the final touches of this design.

The result, a moving visual poem, Cap i Cua.

The project consisted on painting the mobile units according to Joan Brossa 's instructions. From a descriptive point of view, the result was a train painted entirely in white, with character letters of simple structure in large format. These large character letters were to be placed on the lateral base of one side of the unit, then they would climb to the roof and end on the opposite base.

The character letters formed the monosyllabic word TREN (Spanish for train), and was repeated on each end of the train.

The aim of the concept was to cover the most technologically advanced train, with the highest conceptual technology, visual poetry.

Some computer aided models of these project were made. The esthetic results were outstanding.

This project. was approved by the board of the AVE building company. Later on, it was refused for unknown reasons.

    Previous Publications (?):

GALERIA JOAN PRATS Exhibit on visual poetry by Joan Brossa. A model of the design was shown, as well as a simulation video of the train with the visual poem incorpornated.
