    PROPOSAL

    Title of project: Retail Therapy

By: Athena Robles and Anna Stein (aka Double A Projects)

Similar to our public project Global Free Store, Retail Therapy is a non-commercial storefront and exhibition that would offer various services and creative products to shoppers / participants free of charge. Products could include free samples of products related to well-being, as well as original artist-made items produced in-house by us and by invited artists. In particular, personal items like journals, jewelry and body products such as lotions and perfumes tend to be popular in this setting and we would work to stock the shop with an ample supply. We would also offer various services to help shoppers / participants to improve their mood or disposition. Such services might include: confessional booth, 5-minute massages and stress tests. We imagine this project taking place over several weeks to 1 month.

Typically, an experience offered by Retail Therapy is enjoyed by those attending high-profile events such as film festivals or awards ceremonies (known as “swag booths”). We hope to make the experience more creative and bring it to a larger public. Retail Therapy continues our work in exploring generous systems, community, gift economies and currency.
