An unrealized high relief sculpture project from Istanbul. In October 2010 I was asked to propose a work for a building of a leading Turkish retail operation brand's headquarters in Istanbul. I made the presentation at the beginning of February 2011. And I understand that it will be an unrealized project.

When I first saw the cubic building of 30000 m2 the first impression I had was how BIG it was. Inside the building had very well designed offices and full of contemporary art works where as outside there was a very small modern architectural element which was a very small detail compared to the huge building. Also considering the major traffic direction and access to the building I chose a wall to propose the project.

Looking from a distance I could see that the industrial area was full of huge buildings and big signs / logos of the companies'. It was completely different than what would have been imagined about Istanbul... Thinking about our daily lives and how we are exposed to the consumption economy's global visual propaganda; my intention was to eascafe from that and search for some genuine idea / form. I closed my eyes and tried to find out how I could clear the space from the visual culture's bombardments. Having my eyes closed, I realized the importance of the other sensory organs especially touching. I had heard that when a blind person was asked -- what would he /she wants to change in his/her body? The answer was that he / she would change the regular arms with longer ones. I thought about "touching" and "braille" alphabet. And decided to take "Braille" alpabet as a starting point. And use this sign series and search for its possibilities within that frame.. And the results are as follows in the images section.

Thank you for giving the opportunuty to present my project to new reviews.
