The Library of Audio Visual and Textual Sources of Inspiration and Motivation (LAVTSIM) is an unrealized organization dedicated to the collecting and display of information of motivational (fear based) and inspirational (coming from some unconscious creative impulse) value. Part of LAVTSIM’s mission is to examine this moment of motivation or inspiration, however fleeting, and the contexts for which one is most effectively motivated or inspired. As a repository of self-reflective, introspective, and positive-life-affirming information, LAVTSIM hopes to be waypoint on the destination toward enlightenment, self-actualization, and action.

I have a series of images in drawing form that describe in detail the many parts of this unrealized organization (best viewed in safari) coreyescoto.com. LAVTSIM at this point is composed of four main parts: 1.) the Reading Room Desert Site, 2.) the Inspirational Garden, 3.) the Inspirational Amphitheatre, 4.) and (off-site) Suburban Inspiration Sites.

At this point LAVTSIM exists only in drawing form, but my initial currently unrealized but achievable plans to make LAVTSIM real (given my resources available) would be to create a LAVTSIM jukebox whereby an ordinary dive-bar style jukebox would be transformed into a repository of inspirational and motivational audio material. I envision the jukebox to contain a collection of recorded speeches, readings (many selected and read by artists), interviews, music, poetry, stories, audio selections from film, as well as selections from self-help audio books and meditative audio landscapes, The jukebox would be placed in a number of sites such as listening room, museum/gallery space, smoky dive-bar, or storefront meditation space. Both cd jukeboxes as well as vinyl jukeboxes would be used depending on the site, and small editions of vinyl 45rpm records would be released and sold to offset the cost of acquiring, transforming, and transporting new LAVTSIM jukeboxes.
