Y - l a n d (speak: why land) is a purely visual project, which intends to promote the Israeli - Palestinian dialogue. The basis is given through a basic and joint Israeli - Palestinian cultural element: the hexagon. Y - L A N D is making the proposal, and provides the programmatic and aesthetic prerequisites, that collectively an endlessly growing pattern can be co-created, which exclusively is based on the geometric (and amazing!) possibilities of the hexagon.

the project is open for anyone who wants to join, but the users from the middle east region (resp. the corespondent IP addresses) get “special spacial rights”: the whole world can co-create the “endless pattern”, but only those IP's can not only co-create on the pattern, but also import new triangles to the hexagon-composition database.

The project will run under www.y-land.org , and would be personally introduced by c a l c touring through schools in Israel and Palestine.

Y - L A N D was inspired by the experience that we've made with the formulation, implementation and maintenance of communimage (www.communimage.net), and the seemingly hopeless situation represented by the Israeli - Palestinian “Dialogue”.

the project is imagined and will be realized by c a l c. c a l c = Teresa Alonso Novo / Dani Gomez Blasco / omi (Thomas Scheiderbauer) and Malex Spiegel, an art-collective since 1992. for more info on c a l c please visit: www.calcaxy.com/works

Y - L A N D was and will be realized in collaboration with our friend Eytan Shouker, a Photographer, Teacher and Activist from Tel Aviv, who also will help us to introduce Y - L A N D in various schools in Israel and Palestine.
