B/M/E: time reconfigured onsite & online 2002-2032 Beginning/Middle/End is a 30 year series of site-specific installations/performances/interventions, with augmenting web components. Choreographing threads of multiple strategies through physical and virtual elements, B/M/E addresses changing notions of time and narrative in a globally networked age. Begun in 2002, the work will be completed in 30 years in three stages. Beginning will dawdle along until 2012, at which point Middle will begin and end 10 years later with the beginning of End. End will end in October 2032. Realizing a 30-year project via the web is a self-conscious critique of the ʻculture of the instantaneousʼ that the Internet manifests and propagates. B/M/E will develop its own tactics as it evolves over 3 decades. At this point what I know is: 1 - Beginning/Middle/End engages ideas of permanence and ephemera. 2 - Beginning/Middle/End circles around and about any possible associations with the three words, ʻbeginningʼ, ʻmiddleʼ and ʻend.ʼ 3 - Beginning/Middle/End deploys images, objects, and actions linked to specific geographic locations. 4 - These site-specific physical elements will include direction to Internet components. 5 - B/M/E elements on the Internet will spin the work in ways the physical installations and actions would not likely suggest. 6 - B/M/E overtly continues my ongoing examination of the ways we now live with multiple standards of conduct and contradictory modes of identity in the physical world, the media world and the Internet. Currently 2 major projects have been completed in the 30-year series and their online components can be accessed through: www.h-e-r-e.com/2011/p_begmidend.htm www.h-e-r-e.com/beginning www.h-e-r-e.com/middle http://www.h-e-r-e.com/end A B/M/E uber-site is currently under construction and will be available soon at: www.h-e-r-e.com/bme
