The unrealised project is called 'The canon'. It involves casting 1,001 books representing the canon of Western literature. A list of the books, the rejected works and the reasons for the choices made form part of the work. The books are to be cast in plaster and minerals are to be embedded in them. Plaster is a material that evokes art, transience and mutability. The project was proposed for a national sculpture exhibition but rejected. Ten volumes of the Collected Works of Goethe were cast with mica embedded in the plaster.
