The “freedom and democracy monument” is designed in the shape of an oversized transparent round table: People make use of the elements of that round table by their presence and help bring life into it.The round table is the symbol of the democratic idea of freedom (in a globalized world)The monument Roundtable consists of four table legs that carry the table plate. Below is a walkable, open space with the bottom side of the round table for its roof, offering its visitors protection despite its open space. The four table legs are transparent stair towers. An elevator is integrated into one of them, through which the visitor reaches the soffit of the table plate. This is meant to be a place of encounter for the visitors with the various exhibitions, events, with a coffee house and a shop. Furthermore, it is the panorama platform that turns the urban place into a real life experience. It is also the place where the history of democracy (locally and globally) is quite lively depicted with all its aspects and currents. The roof of the table plate is overgrown by lawn, thus rounding up the full picture of the monument.Different climatic conditions make the monument appear in a different light over and over again, depending on the four seasons and on the type of clothes people wear. Therefore, the monument is flexible and offers different uses. The visitor is an integral part of the monument. The experience of being able to walk inside or outside the round table invariably leads to an unforgettable adventure of experiencing freedom and democracy, changing perspective with the passing of time, in a process that is always dynamic, never static.
